 At the age of 60, Dex entered solo RAAM

in 2010.  He and his crew were rookies. And everyone knows what RAAM does to rookies.  After racing for 2,810 miles it was obviously mathematically impossible for Dex to make the RAAM cut-off time.  He DNFed in Flintrock, MD.

In 2011 he came back and completed solo RAAM in 12 days, 19 hours, 45 min.  Barely making the 309 hour cut-off.
